Post Ladderline spreaders
Anyone had a play with these?
https://www.dx-wire.de/lng/en/ladderline-spreaders/

I have two long runs I need to replace and wondered how robust/ease of use, etc., they were and what spacings (I'm thinking economy only :) people might have tried.

(Apologies if this is an old topic: I looked back over year's posts and didn't find anything)

They look expensive. I must admit I'm a tight old git and I made mine out of black electrical conduit split in half and cut to length and a hole drilled in the edges to take a cable tie, a 2m length from Screwfix costs just over Ā£1, that's if you don't mind spending a little time making them.

Can use lollypop sticks but they need varnishing (or the old way, soaking in linseed oil and beeswax). I used 16mm oval eelectrical conduit from B and Q. Works a treat.

Don't use plastic hair rollers, they are not UV proof. I used them a long time ago but found after a few months they had become brittle and soon broke up. Perspex strip is OK.

A associated question, is there a noticeable difference between 450 ohm ladder line and proper open wire feeder over just a 40ft run?

cant really comment on 40ft but definitely was on a 150ft run.

On a shorter run about 50ft i changed from, the solid core stuff you get here in the UK,to stranded 450 i got from the states and that was definitely better.

There's a dealer in the States that sells spreaders; much cheaper then those ones. The only problem is the shipping cost. If enough people on here were genuinely interested I would buy a pack of 500, so even after shipping costs, the cost per spreader would be better?

Properjob :good:

I've e-mailed the guy for some more info. Even with the VAT 'collection charge' by your local friendly Royal Mail office these are loads cheaper than those from our friends in the EU.
