Nice to see multiple bands open, even though it does make choosing a bit difficult. :)

6M open all over the place, but nowhere new so that reduced the choice.
4M open to EA/EA6, typically not to any new square until S01WS, in IL46 (3056km), popped up. :D
Then faded away before I get through. Fortunately, after his visit to OZ he came back up.
2M open to southern Italy and EA. Why is it always to the same squares? So nothing new there either.
Still, worth it to get Western Sahara on another band.

Cheers

Tony

:) hmmm plenty of views but not a single reply

:good: All I can say is that it has been great . I strung up a simple dipole to use on 6metres at about six metres above the ground .

Not a brilliant aerial I know but simple. I was able to work several stations in N.Italy and Switzerland no bother .

I then moved down to ten metres where I have a choice of antennas and using just 4 watts I managed to work a number of stations

Including this guy near Pisa I5KAP Franco

https://www.qrz.com/lookup I hope this link works it is quite a good web (edit link does not work sorry guys)
page

We had a long chat both running QRP for over an hour .

at one point I turned my power right down to 500mw, so not to be outdone Franco put an attenuator inline and lowered his power to 10 mw . We were still able to have a chat on SSB no bother

:D It was then it occurred to me we could try AM and sure enough we were able to continue our QSO on low power using AM

So yes it was a fun evening

Certainly been the best day of Es so far.

Bagged 5A for a new DXCC on 6, even managed a few I's on 5w and a bigwheel on 2mtr.
Was qrt for many hours due to thunderstorm so missed the stations worked over the pond, but certainly made up for it when it passed :D

Great to see so much activity on SSB and CW - Lets hope for more to come

Yes, a good opening. I only have my 120ft HF doublet to use on six and four. If I can get 5/9+ on that conditions must have been good!

:) I was busy this evening but I still managed to work a few on six with the half an hours grace available to me.
I have discovered that working Italy on six is really easy from my location even using low power and a dipole. Naturally most are interested in logging new squares rather than having a chat which is understandable given that the band is wide open at present .

On the subject of ES it was also fun to listen to the activity on the CB which was also of coarse open Europe wide

I listed with great amusement to the banter on 27.365 FM between Italian operators from the north ( Bergamo,Venice, milan,Turin )
and the south (Rome,Naples,Salerno)

Fun times indeed for all those involved in the radio hobby long may this continue and lets all enjoy it whilst it lasts

I need to move house. I'm right in a vhf radio shadow at home, so I can't enjoy this event. Glad you're getting fun out of it though.

Sporadic E is a great leveller, being in a poor location really does not matter as much as it does on other modes.

What matters is being in the right place at the right time and knowing how to ensure that happens.

Those sort of conditions were no obstacle to my living in a valley. Although after having 6 perfunctory "QSOs" with Italian stations, it just seemed a rat race like the HF bands so I lost interest & watched TV.

I much enjoyed the chatty QSO to Finland before conditions really took off & the tropo QSO to Anglesey after conditions had collapsed.

Wide open here from 10M to 70CM.

Even bagged OZ from home on 2M, very difficult for me from home.

The bands have been on fire for days and yet virtually no posts here on HRD.
Goes to show in reality there is only a handful of us active?
I feel at least 70 percent on here don't actually use the radio often but post horse shit.
We should hold a proper questionnaire to see just what is what. HRD is the perfect place to find out who is still active and doing what.

Enjoying the Es. But pissed off with the rubber stamp QSO you get from every continental on 6m these days.
At least I had a few more QSO-like conversations on 10m.
