Post PYE A200 amplifier "M1" on 4 meters....
I've took a punt on an old A200 from the Blackpool Rally and its an M1, meaning it is designed for 105-108mhz. I am trying to find some info on modifying it for use on 70mhz, and frankly wishing I'd held out for an E0 model (68-88mhz)

I'm OK with a soldering iron and circuit diagrams but no "expert". For £15 I though I'd give it a shot but there isnt much about the M1?? Every web page seems to assume we all have found an E0.

Any help appreciated. :beg:

(And contrary to my username, I am a 2E0 now so can use a little bit more than my 10w transverter power)

Hi, I will have a look through my documents as I think I have a guide on converting the M1 as it came with an already converted M1 last year.
From memory you will need to change the coils on the input and output tank circuits plus the low pass filter too - not much work to be honest and can be done with minimal tools such as dummy load, power meter etc.

You will also need to modify the bias circuit too, hopefully someone on here will have the documents to hand, but like I say I will dig them out when I return from my business trip later in the week.

Cheers

Rob.

The book is called "Surplus 2-Way Radio Conversion Handbook" by Chris Lorek.

Argus Books ISBN 0 85242 946 0

It describes, in-depth, modifying the EO model for 4m or 6m (inc. the lpf).

Thanks for the replies.
I was sent scans of Chris Loreks book by the guy i purchased the amp off but like you say it's all a out converting an EO FOR 2M AND 6M. Not an M1 to 4m unfortunately.
Thanks Rob, if you can find the docs you got with yours that'd be ideal.

Dean.
