 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
cant help as mine is still in the box,
what I will say is, what I have found with the 7cms and the 2 mtr ones is this,
they work very very well, I have only used them both a couple of times as yet to find any problems and had nothing but good reports from my contacts.
just a pity that the wife says the 6 mtr ones to big.
bob.

 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
Hi Bob, It's not the performance I'm concerned with. The instructions are in German, and the diagrams aren't very comprehensive. There's no advice on how to bend the aluminium tubing to the correct profile without collapsing or kinking it. I e-mailed WIMO, but no reply so far. I read somewhere that they provide English instructions?

 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
In my 6m big wheel instructions, the English language ones follow the German. This is usual with Wimo.
I can email a PDF if that helps!

 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
I received the manual, including an English version from David; many thanks for that. What I found is that the written instructions don't agree with some of the photos with the result that I got all six square tubes facing the wrong way. Anyone constructing one of these be aware that the written instructions for the orientation of the 1/2" holes for the nylon rod supports are wrong. The two holes must face each other. This is probably the worst manual from a German manufacturer that I have ever come across.

 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
Sorted! One hole in each square tube at the perimeter, is on the wrong face. The solution is to swap each pair of tubes top to bottom. I had hoped to take part in the activity session yesterday evening, but ran out of time.

 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
Yes it's big, but it should look smaller up at 40ft. Definitely need an extra pair of hands to put it together. I used an extra, longer, SS self-tapper where each of the round tubes pass through the ends of the square tubes. I'm a little bit worried that as the ally starts to oxidise then the only electrical contact would be the small self-tapper supplied. The extra screws penetrate one wall of the square tube, and both walls of the round tube. Maybe nothing to worry about, but hey-ho, belt and braces.

I would spray the connection points with Battery terminal grease, lasts a long time, bob.

Bigger than I expected, hope it works well. well I have just sold mine on and as you can see why the wife did not want this on the new house and if it works as well as the 2 and 70cm versions you will be happy, no rotator needed with these bad boys, bob.

 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
A 3 ele for 6 would look better than that monster up in the air and a cheap rotator would suffice to turn it and probably work better. It's onmi directional I guess it's bloody huge bigger than a Wild West wagon wheel Bob

 Re: WIMO 6M Big Wheel
Nice. I'd have loved a stacked pair of them for 2m CW back in the day. Pity it died out.
