Re: 2m anyone?
I'm in a hole, the Rossendale valley - hills all around me. I cannot even contact someone 2 miles up the road :( Although I have not yet dropped to the level of texting for a contact I do think I'll be sending a QSL card to someone local if I ever get to talk to them. (Europe is easy peasy). Just saying this so your not feeling alone in your isolation

Re: 2m anyone?
Chaps, if you fancy a bit of FM ragchew on 2M log on to my Echolink 2E1IIP-L as it is connected to 144.550MHz one of the oldest 2M FM nets in the North East, been going since before I was born and it is very relaxed, no passing it around via the net controller caper and callsigns when you can remember.
Cheers
Rob.

No, you are quite right to a point (technically it is radio because you are transmitting on 144.550MHz and receiving on the same frequency) however it allows many ex-pats and friends of the lads off 550 the opportunity to take part in a qso and catch up etc - you can't work local ragchew from Manila or Canada on 2M no matter how good your system is.

I'll be on 2M, after the 6M contest. Not on Saturday afternoons/evening, pub time! Cheers Tony

Well Graham G3ZOD has again told me he can hear me in sunny manchester on his indoor dipole, so one half of my station is ok! I can only assume I hear no CW signal because there arent any out there!

M0INY wrote: I'd love to do morse . But there are never anyone out there wishing to teach me so I give in Ok, at the risk off sounding crotchety...there are LOADS of people out there who will help you learn morse, but they cannot learn it FOR you. The basic effort has to be yours, every day, EVERY day, ten or fiften minutes and no more is all that is needed. But it is needed. No one can do that for you. And if you give in so soon, you'll never learn it but you will be able to find all those fabulous excuses all the other non-Morsers have discovered and dish out endlessly. I urge you to learn the code...its a terrifc fun mode which opens up all sorts of avenues unique to Morse. I accept that you might learn it and find you hate it...but unless you learn it you'll never know. Rant over...I'll send you some stuff to help you, via email David I cant email you...your qrz email and this sites email are bouncing for me.
