Post warrington and lymm digital repater question
Hi ALL newbie question so dont flame me .....

i was listening to GB7WC Warringtom repeater and i moved to the Lymm Repeater ................. they are on differant frequencies but i heard the same QSO on both at the same time ...
these are the only two repeaters i can access from my Home qth ... .i wanted to try well practice with the hope of getting a contact through a reflector ...

as the same qso was being heard on both repeaters i was stuffed ... what options are open to me ...

why would people do this ... it seemed a bit selfish ....

GB7WC and GB7DV are normally linked together as they are run by members of warrington arc, so maybe 2 locals were having
a qso on WC and you could hear it on DV as well because the repeaters are linked together
If it was 2 non locals connected through a reflector or they finished the qso you could unlink the repeater by putting the letter U in the 8th position in the UR field and press the ptt, if you hear "not linked" then you have unlinked it and are ready to go
try ref 1c by putting REF001CL in the UR field (L in the 8th position for link) after you have linked put it back to CQCQCQ otherwise it will keep telling you that your linked (dont forget to unlink when you have finished)
Because you are new it will be like a very steep learning curve and more bother than it,s worth, just give it time and you will
like pick it up and hopefully like dstar
There is plenty of info on the web about dstar and if you hear me on GB7DV calling come back and i will have a qso
Paddy

Thanks for the reply ...

it was two locals hams that were on ... i checked ... ive heard you on the repeater and will take you up on your offer ...

well i better like it as im into it for a lot of money now ... i just dont understand why you would link two repeaters less than 10 miles from each other .. regardless of who owns the repeaters
especially as they would have been able to work simplex ...

no problem Paddy thanks for the info

pete

Dstar can be weird at times
I can get GB7DV full scale on receive but GB7WC is 0db on receive so i can get WC through DV
For GB7DV have UR as cqcqcq repeater 1 as GB7DV B and repeater 2 AS GB7DV G
The B and G need to be in the 8th place, B is 70cm and G is gateway (internet) dont forget the minus 9mhz duplex shift as well
I dont go on dstar repeaters much as i think the best way to enjoy dstar is have a dvmega or dvap and then you have your own
little repeater in your house and the worlds your oyster, you can link to all the reflectors and 99% of the worlds repeaters that
have a gateway from the comfort of your own home
If you hear me on DV call back
Paddy

What did you order
If it,s a dvmega/dvap there will be times your head will fall off but it,s worth the hassle in the end
I have a 2m dvap/pi combo here in my own house and in a spare room in my parents i have a dvmega/pi B+ combo so i have
dstar in both locations :)
If your ok on computers you will find it easier but it is a steep learning curve and once your on top of it you will be ok
I have just linked to GB7WC, K1SR and another repeater in san diego california from my id51/dvap and had a qso on the 2 usa
repeaters, GB7DV wont link through the dvmega/dvap but WC will
You can link to the gateway enabled repeaters worldwide on this page (tick gateway enabled repeater box)
http://www.dstarusers.org/repeaters.php
If you get stuck with the dvmega/dvap let me know and i will help you out
Paddy
