I used a Heil dual footswitch. Be careful with the PTT line from the radio to this amp, some of these older amps require a tad more current to switch compared to the modern stuff. You may need to rig up a relay to isolate the radio from the amp such as here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Icom-IC-7000-7200-706-703-718-78-Amp-Relay-Cable-/230378781588 As far as the alc is concerned - I never ran an ALC line from my radio to the amp - I just ensured i remained within the ALC limits on the rig.

THe idea of using the ALC from the amp to control the output of the rig is so you don't overdrive the amp, especially if you forget to change band on the amp when you change on the radio.
