Post Multiple isolated PTT lines from one PTT source.
Hi folks, I have a bit of a dilemma that maybe some of you can help me with.

My transceiver has a single PTT connection, its actually labelled as a linear relay. Now in the shack I currently have 3 devices (HF amp, LP Panadapter and 2m transverter) which I would like to connect to my TRX PTT.

I know I cannot use all three devices at once, but chances are I will run the panadapter and either the HF amp or the panadapter and the 2m transverter simultaneously.

I have tried to parallel the panadapter and HF amp, but no matter what, either the panadaptor fails to mute on TX or the amp stays permanently in TX.

I know a simple solution would be to get a 12v multi pole relay, but my concern is that the time it takes for the relay in my transceiver to latch plus the time it would take the multi pole relay to latch starts becoming a significant amount of time and falls into the category of "hot keying" equipment.

Is there a way to solve the problem using solid state devices which will switch faster, or am I being too fussy and the multi pole relay will be just fine?

All PTT circuits are of the low voltage and low current type. No old amplifiers with 120v on their ptt lines or anything silly like that.

My equipment sits in custom shelves so access to behind any of my equipment is very awkward, I would much rather have everything connected so I don't have to keep moving stuff round and just switch on what I want, when I want and it will work with no faffing around.

Thanks in advance.

Just use a sequencer, then you can make sure all the switching is in the correct order and no relays are hot switched.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice Tony.

There's quite a few around, if you google radio sequencer, or relay sequencer.

Try this as a start.

A nice little kit.

Check out his other bits as well.
