I've got a M0CVO HW-40HP ocf dipole....... It's overall length is 66'....... In order to fit it in to my garden area without drawing too much attention....(especially as i recently installed both Sirio Gainmaster and 2m/70cms aerials attached to the gable side of my house)... I have to compromise.... Which means that the balun would be Approx 17' in a tree with the longer run going over my garage to the bargeboards on the side of my house.....The shorter run would run along my guttering along the back of the house...So all would be 17' high but the angle would be Approx 45 degrees.......... Would this work or should i try an alternative...?........It is supposed to work on 40/20/10m without an atu and 60/15/6 and warc with an atu..... This really is the only configuration i can attempt ...With this particular antenna.. If i draw attention and someone complains i could be totally off air.... .... I dearly want to get on the bands proper...... But if i am wasting my time with the above perhaps someone could suggest an alternative...... I fully appreciate any comments/advice as i am recently licenced..So experience is at a minimum... .... Cheers..Jason

Well of course it will 'work' but at 17 feet you will be limited to high-angle radiation on most bands.
This will actually be an advantage if you like chatting to 'G's and near-Europe on 40, but don't expect any wonderful DX on the higher bands.

PM me your postcode and house number and I'll have a look on street view. Perhaps we can come up with something 'sneaky' that will give you a crack at some low-angle.

1. Half-sized G5RV in 'inverted vee' shape right up inside the loft apex. Pull it in a 'Z' shape looking down from above, with the ends running along the inside of the eaves.

2. Well-sealed WiMo WARC Vertical GP3W - http://www.wimo.de - on back garden fence, or painted Landrover green and stuffed up through the tree for the WARC bands. Bury as much copper as you can under it.

3. Sell the Gainmaster and use the half G5RV instead for CB.

Hi mine slopes from apex to 3 mtrs and about 6 foot side ways so it in L format and it works great it pees over g5rv any day but saying that so does a 50 ohm resistor at 25 feet

Thanks for your replies... Hopefully the pics help to see more clearly what i mean...... The balun in the conifer to the right with coax to the garage/shack...The shorter leg to the rear of the house along the guttering and the longer leg over the garage to the front corner of the house bargeboard..............Or I could tuck the balun under the eaves below the gainmaster and run both legs along the bargeboards to the front and back of the house and along the guttering..... With the coax following the others into the shack......?....I work full time and am studying at the moment so time is very limited....I only have one opportunity to do this until the end of the year......So really need to do the best i can......Cheers...
