Hi all, I have been licenced for a while now but only getting a chance to set up my gear. I hopefully will be putting up a doublette or a full size G5RV for starters.
What I am looking for is an external ATU. The one that seems to crop up a lot when you search on the net is the SGC 239. Does anyone have any experience of using one or can you give me another make model to look at.
The max power I will be using is 100w and the radio I will be using is a Yaesu 897D.

I have a SGC 230. I've not used mine on the antenna you're going to but its done a cracking job on everything I've bolted to it. If you do use one and find it has trouble matching on a band you'll need to alter the antenna length as it doesn't seem to like 1/4 waves so on 80m for example, it has trouble finding a match with my L at 65-68ft long but changing that to 75ft solved all my problems.

i have a CG-3000, which is the same thing, it is great, just connect a bit of wire and start TXing,

Thanks for the replies. I have heard that sometimes they are difficult to tune. I think I might buy the SIC afterall.
