Post Mobile Whip Dipole
Hi all, does/has anyone use/d 2 mobile whip antennas, helical wound type, with a 3/8 dipole mounted either vertical or horizontally to form a single band dipole, seems a reasonable cheap option as I have half the components in the garage, well one half of the dipoles anyway!

Is that a radial wire coming off the bottom half of the dipole?

Post Re: Mobile Whip Dipole
the top pic is just a vert sat on a modded stripped down whip i use as a ground stake.. i use T connector and 2 X 3/8 to so239 connectors. The top 3/8 to so239 is standard , the bottom 3/8 to so239 has had the short rod taken out from the inside so its actually only electrically connected to the earth side and nothing touches the hot side of the bottom half of the T connector...

I tried this with a pro am style whip and a couple of wire radials on top of a 20 foot pole ,it was better than my windom at times but sometimes worse , i was tempted to try two but never bothered, i even considered making some kind of mini beam.

I use two 50mhz whips with one of those centres, mounted just outside the shack window
and rotated by armstrong method.
If i swap the whip section for two shorter whips i can get on 70mhz, and that works as well.
