Post Rs-918 Mc hf clone
Hope somebody may shed some light on my mistake

I have a rs-918 mchf clone

Just got it and wanted to reset the menu as it was second hand and I wanted
To customise the screen filters ect. Well I though I was resetting the menu which
It did do but also wiped the pa configuration and now on boot up it shows errors
And when you key the mic another similar error pops up

Not sure if this can be fixed with a simple flash of firmware knowing my luck it
Won’t be that easy

If anybody can help it would be much appreciated

Pete

Did you make a note of all the settings before you did a reset?

If not, there is a good chance you will fry the finals if you use commonly found settings.

I'm sure I posted on here a couple of years ago about it, try searching on here. I can't remember the correct settings.

Looking at the screen, you haven't done any damage yet.

Re-flashing the firmware won't help you.

If you can't find anything, email me at my address on QRZ.com and I will try and find my 918 at the weekend.

Hi Pete,

According to the docs on adjusting the PA bias, this should be possible to sort out if you can put a sensitive ammeter in the +ve supply line.
https://github.com/df8oe/UHSDR/wiki/Adj ... alibration

Essentially you set the audio input to Line In (NOT MIC), key up and see what the current draw is.
Then you increase the PA bias in the menu (PA Configuration Menu > PA Bias) in small steps until the current draw on TX is 500mA greater than your first reading.

Do you have a sensitive (minimum resolution 10mA) ammeter or multimeter you could try this with?

Do you have an SWR/power meter (power going down to at least 20W so that you can see 5W) and a dummy load?

Best to ensure that the friend either has a 918, or has worked on them before, not someone who knows the genuine item :)
