Post ANOTHER ANTENNA IN THE BUILDING STAGES

Morning folks were at it again.

Another portable antenna a Inverted V Tri band linked 80 40 and 20m with 80m loading coils and taking the design one further with 160m coils.

Will do the basic design first and get that operational and then think about the 160m coils. :yahoo:

Leads me to a question :blonde

On the coils am using is .75mm insulated wire with 55 turns on a 40mm former waste pipe that is. Do i double that amount of turns to gain 1.93mhz or there about for me second loading coil that replaces the 80m coil when want to op on 160m

And below is the picture of me first 80m coil 3.700mhz

Leads me to a question:
Are these supposed to be 'loading coils', or traps?

Right this is more of update what trying to do making a inverted V Tri band antenna the 40m 20m and 80m with loading coils.

The 20m and 40m is nice and res with no add of ATU. :clapping:

Now built the 80m coils after the last coils after did failure.

ALL so must buy a LCR meter well handy after working out the lengths of wire and then work out how much Uh required with former Dia etc. wound the formers with the .77mm wire to what they calucatuon worked out then attach the LCH meter and tune the coils in as close as possible to the Uh required got it in with in .7% of the Uh target on both coils.

One day shortly and sting you the antenna and do some antenna testing with the Sark 100 and on air. All being well and get out out portable and get it on air :yahoo:

next job make a vertical 10m 160m portable antenna with 160m loading coil but going to make a coil winder first :-)

I'm not picking, but I find some difficulty in understanding that, it is almost like google translate has been used to translate another language into English.

Just trying to see what you are saying :)

Opps

fat fingers soz LOL

Basically its string the antenna up in garden to which i did other day, mainly to test out the 80m side of it and its working well putting in good signals into East Dorset from East Cornwall.

So 20m is resonate, 40m is also via the links. And the loading coils does most of the 80m band with ease applying the MFJ939 via the FT857d. Plus one can take one of the Elements add the CP wires to the FP if room not allow bigger antennas on site as plan to op more from me M/C next year portable.

Happy with that look forwards to getting out portable and fire it up on air some where in the wilds of Cornwall along with the LF Inverted L portable i have as well.

Now must get on with the loading coil for the 160m vertical am doing again for portable.

I've still not figured out how you can make a multi-band antenna using just loading coils, instead of L/C traps?

Lurking in my loft is a dipole for 40m and 60m NVIS. It has two 40m L/C traps at the quarter-wave points, and as an added bonus the trap coils make the 60m 'end bits' much shorter than they would otherwise be.

If I had used two 'loading coils' instead, it would just be a loaded 60m dipole.

my 40/80 metre dipole is a 40 metre dipole 2 coils and some more wire no capacitors involved.
works fine on 40 works ok on 80 but limited bandwidth.
the coils still act as Lc by capacitance between the turns....I think, not certain but it works.

oh dear should read string it up into air and air the antenna :-)
