Post XLR to icom 8 pin pinout
i want to make up a cable so that i can use my BM-800 studio mic with a Icom IC-7610, the mic uses a 48v phantom PSU, i also want to include a PTT Tail, so the cable will run between psu & radio, i have heard that i should use a capacitor between psu & mic socket, i would appreciate if anyone who has done this could give me a pinout for this job.
Thanks all.

The main reason for the capacitor on an Icom mic line is because the mic pin has a DC voltage on it for their mics, and if you connect a dynamic mic to an Icom, you don't want a DC voltage on it.

I used an 800 for a while about three years ago, wasn't anything special, in fact an inexpensive voice tailored dynamic mic sounded better.

The XLR and Icom pinouts are easily available online (I can't remember the XLR pin outs, haven't used them for long time), that's where I got the info from to make the cable, the fly lead for the PTT went straight into the mic plug at the radio with an inline phono socket (to match the ones on the back of rigs when they have it) which just went under the rig to connect to the foot switch lead which was behind the rigs, makes less cables on the table that way.

Found it, actually in a marked box, with the correct contents :)

This will show what I meant with the PTT fly lead. I made the mic cable 2m long, may sound long, but by the time it has gone behind things to be out of sight, it isn't too long.
