Post Cheap rope
I was in my local Homebase store today and while I was there I spotted some 4mm Polyprop multi filament rope.
https://www.homebase.co.uk/grunt-multi- ... 0m_p272209

It's made in China and called "Grunt" multi purpose rope, suitable for outdoor use and claims to be resistant to rot, water and sunlight and has a claimed breaking strength of 100kg.

It was only a fiver for a 40m length, and it comes on a handy little plastic reel. Looks perfect for supporting wire antennas, or maybe temporary guy ropes on a light pole or mast. It looks to be reasonable quality with an inner core and a woven outer sheath, and not excessively stretchy. Can't really go wrong at a fiver!

It's normally Mastrant that I use too Russ. It really is good rope and in a different league from this cheap Chinese stuff, but when I saw this today I thought it was worth a punt and I won't feel bad if I have to cut it.

It was just a general heads-up for anyone on the lookout for cheap line.
I wouldn't recommend that it be used for guying a P80 with a 4 element SteppIR... :D

I've used the blue nylon stuff too ,I switched it out for rachet straps ,one each end of the 120m doublet .That was 20mm rope too ,the UV kills it after a year or so .I'm trying the mastrant to hold the boom on the new Yagi ,i need to fit and forget ...well for a while anyhow .

Post Re: Cheap rope
PVC coated steel wire rope of around 4-5mm overall diameter is the trick, I used lots of various ropes for my mast and nothing came close to this stuff as it held my mast rock steady in severe gale force winds as there is zero stretch, no corrosion, no issue with UV so it is a win all around.

I use heavy duty monofilament fishing line... sold for "sea fishing" in "The Range".... dirt cheap and been supporting my trapped dipole for several years now.
