Is there a performance benefit in upgrading to the Pi 2? What reason would one have to do this?

Probably the same reason I'm not still running my 386DX cpu with maths co-processor with Windows 3.11. Joking aside it operates much faster and VNC Viewer instead of dragging things across the screen they just go instantly and for £30 it's cheap brain fodder for me at 70 years old.... use it or lose it !

Probably not Paddy but it gave me something to do and it is noticeably faster than the B+

That was really the root of my question. Whether it is worth the effort to upgrade and whether I would see a real performance increase. It may be worth doing just for the fun of it!

I will clear things up! Unless you use an IMG that is made for the ARM 7 chip set in the new Rasp v2 it will not do any thing more than all the other raspberry pi's..... It boots quicker! but once on does nothing More! + if using external usb devices you have to put a new line in the config for it to work correct! all this is on my face book page!

I have the Rasp v2 running for the last 2 days on test!

My Pi 2 has now been running my hotspot off and on for the last week having done all the updates suggested in the link and also ran sudo raspi-config to clock it at 900MHz although you can clock it to 1GHz. As I don't intend to use Facebook I can't keep up to date with your info Karl....

I have swapped my Pi B+ as supplied for a Pi 2. I downloaded and followed the latest Maryland-DStar documents etc. and it all seems to be fine apart from one thing ... can someone tell me how I install the dashboard that I had with the older set-up?

then explained that pi b not b+ is only running at 80 persent with dstar and adsb so not need anythin faster

What was the older image you used?

It was as supplied by Karl with my dual band DV-Mega hotspot. I had updated the repeater software to the 20150213 version. For the RPi 2 I downloaded the latest package directly from Maryland-DStar
