Suffering from or causing interference (RFI)?
With a little care, and significant diplomacy, RFI problems can be eliminated or minimised. We can help you do this and your evidence can help us update our advice to others.
We provide direct access to help from others via the EMC Matters forum or email our helpdesk.emc@rsgb.org.uk

SOME RFI problems succumb to care & diplomacy

If your problem is vdsl or gfast you're most likely to be up poo creek with no paddle.

@GM0OMX
Been there, done that. Long time ago. Ofcom/Openreach have a standard 'get out of jail free' response, as I've posted elsewhere.

RSGB need to tread VERY carefully.
Lets assume some magic legal argument was discovered that would cause Ofcom to lose in the courts & have to do something about all this. I've already seen one internet post titled "radio hams want to stop us using our broadband". Happened when someone was approached about the crap his shonky broadband wiring was causing and tried to do rather more than just say 'eff off'. Fortunately nobody paid much notice back then.

Faced with defeat if it went to court Ofcom would just leak a 'spun' version of the truth to social media and suddenly we'd all be the problem, not Openreach.

I'm half-expecting the 5G loons to start looking swivel-eyed at amateur aerials too. I reckon the Ofcom 'field strength survey' requirement that we all need to do by year-end is Ofcom washing their hands in case that happens, leaving us on the front line.
