Looking online it says JF is offline can you hear GB7BP 439.450-9mhz

Hi Trevor, sorry for the long delay. I've been busy with work. I heard someone talking on JF and I swear it was digital voice communication. Can you do point to point D-Star communiction or does it have to be via a repeater? Anyway, I'm now at another location and I've now accessed GB3VT. It's shown in the call log so I know it has accessed it. The repeater itself doesn't seem to get much activity.
