It looks like the one I saw on aliexpress a couple of years ago, needed the front panel/vfo at about £50+ plus other stuff to build a complete rig.

I ended up going for the μBITX at the time.

It's the total lack of support that amazes me. I'd love to look inside the Asian mind sometimes. I'm not saying they're bad, just very different from what I know

They are just sellers, they know nothing about most products they sell, they just choose items they think are worth selling, like walking round a wholesalers and loading up with all kinds to sell.
The motivating factor in choosing is profit :)
