Rushi replacing Boris.
Its like being in a care home in the 70's, laying on your bed after hearing Saville won't be visiting over the weekend, then you start to hear the sound of a digeridoo echoing down the corridor... :beg:

The only down side she is far less confident and sure of herself, or intelligent come to that, than Margaret Thatcher was.
I seriously would never consider her Maggie Mk 2.
As opposed to "Rishi", I am sure that's the right spelling?, she is the lesser of two evils, but neither of them I would personally pick for the job.

Haha, more like the cheese straw lady. She'd fold the moment she played world poker.

She has an answer for everything, even going to make it against the law to break the law.

I would not worry too much, there will never be another Margaret Thatcher, she was very much a one off, some loved her, many hated her, but she was the person she was and rarely swerved to pander to anybody just to "tick the right boxes", and in as much as that, and while I detested her at times, she does deserve a certain amount of my begrudged admiration for very much being her "own person".

Too many "leaders" today are far more worried about "ticking all the right boxes", than taking major challenges head on and sorting them out with any following praise or not, and that's why leader after leader these days never really gets anything done of any lasting substance or significance.
And that is right across the political spectrum.
Politics today is all "Tip toe through the Tulips", middle of the road try and please everyone, that rarely gets you anywhere.

Thatcher was an evil woman never troubled with self doubt. Her legacy can still be seen round here in every ex mining and ex steel towns 40 years after she inflicted her carnage.

I reserve Evil for those truly deserve it, one example Adolf Hitler, I could list a whole raft more from history but as much as I detested some of her policies, and I did being at the brunt end of their consequences at the time, not all of her policies I must add, I would not describe her as Evil.
Cock sure and opinionated in many aspects yes, out and out Evil?... no.
As I said I have a tiny and begrudged admiration for her tenacity often in the face of much criticism and personal attacks, and having the balls, not that she did have balls of course, to stick with the merits of her own thinking, and not be easilly swayed by every person that wants their moment of change government policy glory in the sun.
These days being "PM" means absolutely nothing, party loyalty is at rock bottom, back stabbers abound behind every corridor door of Westminster, and decisions are overturned seemingly on the spur of the moment as so called "modern day leaders" suddenly get "cold feet" that their popularity ratings even among their own might drop a little if they don't pander to latest trending "ist's" demands.
It's not politics anymore, it's just a long drawn out "tick the right boxes" exercise in "time in power" damage limitation.

In fairness her description of the other "vegetables" was spot on, something many leaders have suffered from being surrounded by.
You could be the best football team manager in the World, but inherit a shit clueless team with no money to spend on hiring better players, and the ones you have to hand with little real talent, and you probably are not going to lead them to the premiership trophy, FA cup, or even the European cup come to that.
The best leaders in the World can often inspire given the chance, but if the line up of folks to pick and choose for the right jobs under them is lacking in clibre, you will never manage to pull off much with the hand of cards you are dealt.
Being PM today is just a moment in time glory title, something to add on your "next line of employment" CV, it's just a constant battle once you acquire the position to try and lead many folks, even in your own party, that do not want to be led, as they either think they know better than you, or secretly just want your job! :)

But they did not destroy entire communities. In my time with the NCB mostly pre Thatcher many small pits were indeed closed but their workforce was largely transferred to the larger pits who needed the miners. Thatcher just made them redundant with no alternative employment and imported Australian coal.

Two crocodiles were sitting at the side of Thames in London .The smaller one turned to the bigger one and said, 'I can't understand how
you can be so much bigger than me. We're the same age, we were the same size as kids... I just don't get it.'
'Well,' said the big Croc, 'what have you been eating?'
'Politicians, same ...as you,' replied the small Croc.
'Hmm. Well, where do you catch them?'
'Down the other side of the Thames near the parking lot by Parliament House.'
'Same here. Hmm... how do you catch them?'
'Well, I crawl up under one of their Lexus cars and wait for one to unlock
the car door. Then I jump out, grab them by the leg, shake the shit out of
them, and eat 'em!'
'Ah!' says the big Crocodile, 'I think I see your problem. You're not
getting any real nourishment. See, by the time you finish shaking the shit
out of a politician, there's nothing left but an arsehole and a briefcase.'
