...unless you know differently.

The return force is generated by bending a tiny piece of spring steel (similar to the 'swedish key' of old).

Fortunately it was a gift. They're insanely expensive.
Once you get used to the fact that your finger is bigger than the key, they're actually quite useable.
Designed for use by hard-core back-packing mountain-top operators, which I definitely am not, so more of a novelty for me really. But yeah, 'cute' is about right :-)

Nope, this is far smaller.

The leads are an optional extra Mark, you have to solder them on to earn your badge mate :D

oooh nice. Proper terminal posts for the leads too, so extra points there.

As for solder, I recall being told about using solder as a kid, instead of just twisting wires together, but years later I looked inside my TS520 to find....wire-wrap connectors for edge connectors on the boards 0.0

Twisted wire connections had become trendy. Not in this house. Out came my trusty Antex to turn em into a proper job.

Oh, in case anyone is wondering. My mini-key was a gift from the guy who makes them. I don't have any rich relatives :-)

That was very nice of him, it's a cute little key. How does it perform I wonder

Performs surprisingly well but as you can see from the top photo, the keying arm extends beyond the edge of the base so if you are heavy-handed you can tip the whole thing forwards. If the base was extended out under the knob, this couldn't happen.
