Post Brasspounder - Morse Code Forum & Morse Key Forum
Mark, G0KZZ, has started a new internet forum for CW enthusiasts at https://forum.brasspounder.net/

It is wide ranging, covering amateur CW operating to radiotelegraphy history, and key collecting to internet based CW contacts.

Some really good content on there about old and not so old keys, as well as operating and other stuff.

Definitely worth a browse, and feel free to add any comments you like.

https://forum.brasspounder.net/

The URL has changed, it no longer needs the "forum" prefix as it's no longer a subdomain.

It's now https://www.brasspounder.net/ (but the old URL will still work via a redirect that's in operation on the site).

The new URL for the site is https://telegraphy.net/forum/index.php although I've found that just typing telegraphy.net/forum in to the address bar seems to work also.

Had to drop the brasspounder domain because Googles new A.I. page ranking decided that the search term/name was "of an obscene or pornographic nature".

After a few minutes looking at URL it hit me, not "BrassPounder" but "brAssPounder"!

Don't you just love A.I. :banghead:

Post Re: Brasspounder - Morse Code Forum & Morse Key Forum
Thanks for the updated link, I missed out on finding the forum from the earlier posts.

I've joined & will give it a try, although I belong to several CW groups they seem to be focussed on the ideas that CW = HF & the goal is to achieve the highest possible speed. I much admire such skills but it is not necessarily a useful attribute on microwaves where most of my contacts are on CW.

Most modes of propagation up there don't favour high speeds & most of the stations I work are not able to use high speeds. So it is pointless me trying to achieve higher speeds than can be understood.

So I am happy enough just to dawdle along but like to keep practising & have an interest in the history of the mode. But I draw the line at a keyboard & clever multi-levered keys to facilitate faster speeds.

But I seem to be in a bit of a minority group :)

Interesting!! We here at Fists don't seem to have a problem with the name BrassPounder, we have been using the name for quite a few years, it's the title of a smaller magazine we run alongside of the main magazine KeyNote, it's a monthly electronic newsletter containing results, soapbox comments, and news about Fists on air activities, written by David G4YVM, 73, John M0CDL Fists Treasurer. :hello:

:good: nice find and well done Mark for a really interesting and useful website.
Has renewed my interest in CW which has been a long time favourite of mine although
I have been not active these last few years.
Will dig out the books and key again.
My thanks to Mark

Glad it helped someone, but I took the site down due to lack of use, I got sick of just posting to myself

The domain and hosting are still paid up for some time to come, but, there was a total lack of any life on there thanks to Google not indexing anything!

Bing indexed the site very well, but Google only had the home page, so there was never any search traffic to the site.

I took the site down once before and a number of folks asked me to put it back online, but then never used it!!!
