Post hello from Barnsley
Just a quick hello to introduce myself, I recently passed my foundation licence, I took this so I understood what my partner was rattling on about and now seam to have got the bug... I currently use a hand held... not very sucessfully, I might add, so working on my partner to see if he will let me use his shack.... big ask I know for you dedicated guys!!
I find this all intimidating its very much a mans world, talk is technical, interesting when i'm listening, but some of it is way over my head... perhaps i need to do the intermediate licence!!

Hi Denise
Posting a nice reply for you :)

Welcome to the hobby. Good that you got the bug. Have you been listening on 2 metres on your handheld. Spose sometimes it can seem like all technical talk. Where as on hf things can be different. Be nice for you to get on hf and use the 10 watts you will have. Be suprised just where you can get too.
I,m in York but my folks are in Barnsley. Always seems to be more chatter on 2metres over that way. over next week with my handheld. So will listen out..Have you tried working through repeaters yet. :good:

Andy
