Re: Hexbeam on 6 ?
I've got an older Hexbeam that doesn't have 6m but it does give a usable SWR for some reason so I have made a few QSOs with it. Left it running on the Meteor Scatter freq for an hour and copied stations all over Europe.
6m is often more about being in the right place at the right time to take advantage of propagation. Of course having a large yagi helps, but propagation footprints can be small on 6m and 2 elements from a Hexbeam will certainly help. Last year ON8DM took down his 2x6 at the end of the Es season and replaced it with a Hexbeam, he caught a late-season opening to Asia and worked a few JAs.
If I was buying new I'd make sure I had 6m on the Hexbeam, but as I focus on 6m during summer I'd still put my big 6 ele back up May-Sept.

Re: Hexbeam on 6 ?
Have the SP7IDX Hexbeam with 6m element. Tunes nicely on a wide part of 6m band. Have just made a few QSO's, did work great. But I have never had anything else but a wire dipole up for 6m. Hex absolutely worked better than a dipole. Overall impression of the Hex is very positive, and it works great on all other bands. Just MHO FWIW.
