Post french repeaters on 2mtrs
our local 2mtr net is on 144.725 a any mode freq here in the uk!
so why as France got a repeater there,we must have been told umpteen times we are coming out on 145.325 via f5jbf!!! from guys in Portsmouth & could we move !!

There are not enough frequencies available through the 2m band to give every repeater in the world its own individual unique slot. Therefore when a tropo opening happens it is inevitable that if the foward ducting is strong into near Europe there is a large possibility that a distant beacon will be heard on the same qrg as your local one.

I guess the French man was hearing you on the input.

Hopefully the Ofcom consultation will result in extra bandwidth, which will be UK exclusive, and the local chats can move to the 146 - 147 area.
Perhaps then we'll have less problems with stations in with the beacons, and wrong sections of the band. :D
