Amazing how 3w can cause so much qrm!
Action this morning during the practical wireless 2m contest and almost 80khz wide.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPfDRuFQ ... e=youtu.be

The QRM can clearly be seen and heard 35khz down from G0WRS/P who is the same signal strength but clean.

Whoa that's awful, has anyone told him?....might switch on myself as even my poor location might well pick up a signal that wide!

Blimey what radio is he using?
I've got an old Liner 2 here that isnt that bad!
That signal is awful for 3 watts! Something SERIOUSLY amiss somewhere, either a technical issue, or a "stretching" of the truth! :D

That is wide, I could not really use the top half of the band looking north for a while with the splatter from A few.

I wonder if you have a video of my signal? Ive never had any complaints.

Managed to work GM8EXI/P IO66 square on 3w, very hard work though

I've often said that abused, low power, equipment is more of a problem than legal limit, used by someone who knows what they're doing.

Despite what the "why do you need a linear?" brigade might say.

I have sent a heads up email to his QRZ page advertised email address. He currently tops the declared scores on the backpackers contest with 3 watts to a 7 ele ZL antenna.

Perhaps his unusually wide 3 watt transmissions are a deliberate "ploy" to attract as much attention as possible to his whereabouts during the contest, increases total score, if only because everyone calls in to say "Jeez thats a wide signal"! ;)

I don't know the fella. But I did experience it on my FT221R. The clip seems to speak for itself, at least in my understanding.

So I decided to give the operator the chance to view the clip and do what ever may be needed.

Wow that is inexcusably wide... and 3w as well, would hate to see what a 100w signal from him would look like!

I never did receive a reply from the OP in the above clip, I have no way of knowing if the OP read / received it but it was sent to the email address listed on their QRZ page and contest entry.

I also copied the email and clip to both the RSGB and PW contest adjudicators. I was asked by the adjudicator of one contest what had I done about it during the contest. My honest answer was nothing because my only evidence during the contest was me. The clip on YouTube appeared afterwards and confirmed my experience. I see the results for the RSGB contest are now out and one particular station did well  http://www.rsgbcc.org/cgi-bin/vhfresult ... &year=2013

Who knows what will come of it. But basically the adjudicators seem to be ignoring the clip and want on air action during the contest only.

Frankly I don't fancy the bun fight that could cause.

So to be in the running, just take up most of the band :banghead:

What's the point of the contest and rules, if the contest adjudicators don't give a dam

Old boys club.............................

I feel very negative about this too. However the adjudicator attitude seems to be complain during not after the contest. The op should be made aware though. I have tried I hope others have too.

I agree with the comment about adjudication, I'm sure it will be brought up during the contest discussions at the the Convention.
It's, usually, a lively exchange. :D

I'm not sure where the "Old boys club" comment fits in?
