Thanks for the heads-up Steve

There is also the ARRL EME contest on 23cm (and 70cm and 2m) today/now; on 23cm, HB9Q and DL0SHF are about -12dB JT65C, speaker audible, I'm using a single 25el Loop Yagi (with LNA), the moon will be low enough shortly not to need elevation if you have a clear view towards 280-285'

It was incredibly quiet in NE GD.

Post Re: 23 cms contest today Sunday 17th November
It was quieter on Sunday than last night & it was a longer contest. I got a few more contacts over greater distances on Sunday because I think people had to look around a bit harder, persist for a bit longer & be prepared to have another go later on.

There were masses of people on KST last night that I would loved to have had a try with but difficult to get a chance. Initially I resisted using KST but my first two UKACs calling CQ & listening resulted in zero contacts.

Post Re: 23 cms contest today Sunday 17th November
I am to some degree disheartened with the UKAC.

My QTH is far from ideal being at sea level NE GD with hills to my south from South East through to South West, so Wales, western England and Western France are difficult areas for me. However I can usually work the English channel coast on 2m and 70cm on a flat band and 23cm the Midlands.

My experience seems to show that people work known strong stations and don't try the rest of us until they become desperate for a new contact.

Still, see you all next UKAC night..... :D

Although I got more points than you because the contacts were spread between 7 locator squares :)

Swings & roundabouts really. But we both enjoy the satisfaction of making the best of a duff location :good:

Clive, your right. I love the challenge of this location, the views not bad either.

I'm currently pulling together the parts to build a 23cm amplifier. It should give me 100w at the masthead rather than my current 5w. That'll be an interesting change to record.
