Has anyone done anything exciting with the NoV'd top bit of 2m?

Post Re: 2m NoV use...
I remember a post from Tony many moons ago, about some compressed digital narrow bandwidth video experimental stuff going on?
Other than that no idea what it is, or isn't being used for, around here I tune across the segment from time to time, and I have not even heard undecipherable digital noise, let alone a voice, so who knows?
I am sure someone, somewhere, is having a technical dabble on there, not me personally.

It was being used within days of permission being granted.
People who were aware of the negotiations were prepared, just in case it went through.

I've not kept up with the detail closely, it was planned for the convention, but development is still going on with the TV.
The various builders and users chat pages seem quite active.
I think there was going to be a UK contest but I'm not sure if it happened.
There was a contest/test organised by the Dutch Society VERON, in August, which I believe was a success.
The Telecom Agency, Dutch regulators, are apparently pushing the "NotMoreOfTheSame" concept the same as Ofcom.
The Dutch are doing it within the normal 2M band. They've yet to have persuaded their regulators to release additional bandwidth.
It was a job well done to get it released in the UK, even though there are geographical restrictions.

As it's a low level, broad band, QPSK transmission I'm not sure that it would be detected, on narrow band equipment, as a viable signal but more as a lift in the noise floor.

I gather there have also been some digital audio and data experiments.

Cheers

Tony

There you go, I knew Tony would have a bit more of a handle on what's going on in the new extended 2 meter portion,, it is very much, (and upwards in spectrum from there of course), his area of amateur radio spectrum of choice.
Cheers Tony! :good:
