Post VHF / UHF sleeve (Bazooka) choke baluns
I have a second hand 2 metre 13 element Tonna Yagi. I believe it originally had a sleeve of aluminium tubing on the feeder coax 12mm in bore by 14mm in OD. I had a kindly user give me the length of the sleeve and a photo of it on his Tonna, but the length is not with me right now. The end of the sleeve farthest from the N type plug is grounded with a stainless steel "Terry" type clip to the alloy boom, but not electrically connected to the shield of the coax.

I further read (here: ) that you can make a sleeve (Bazooka) choke balun by expanding some cut off coax braid over the feeder coax jacket and soldering or mechanically electrically bonding the braid sleeve to the part exposed braid of the feeder coax the correct distance from the connector plug to the Yagi driven element. Which is the better to do this please? Thanks.
