Vertical for 80 metres
Been thinking about 80 and using a vertical......My thinking or planned design is using an old cb vertical I have acquired ground mounted and maybe add some length remove its coil and SO fitting and wind a coil, I have some hard drawn copper in the shed for a coil. I will of course add some radials etc and I have seen the commercial ones where they tap off the coil for different bands so I may be able to get it on 40 and more etc but my target band is 80 for now and anymore a bonus. Any advise on the winding of the coil and mounting options would be appreciated, I have an analyzer to find the taps etc. It would be good to hear from someone who has done something similar, and yes DX will be my objective.

Poofs & Pansies use coils, real men go 63ft high.

Re: Vertical for 80 metres
Aye good the only issues could be 2...1 when the towers wound down at 25ft but I could add an extra fold I guess and number 2 close proximity to my house as my towers bolted to the rear....It could be a case of whack it up and see as I have a 1-1 current some where.

Re: Vertical for 80 metres
Hi David will do and the design that Gerrys given looks interesting but I'm gonna struggle because theirs a kitchen extension recently gone up right at the side on my tower I could be back on with the vertical and the copper brake pipe for a coil Ok off for a butchers David
