Was that dBd, or dBi.
Antennas don't have gains quoted in dB, you need a reference, as dBs are a ratio,

Also, can you believe the figures?

The forward gain is just one aspect.
The front to back ratio, radiation pattern, amongst other attributes, all come into play.

I'n no expert in this field, but I suspect that the aerial radiation patterns would be different. I suppose in theory, if they have the same forward gain they would display the same s reading pointing at the transmitting station. I suspect you will find various radiation patterns modelling programs on the web that which will give you a better idea on the differences.
