Hi all, What indoor antenna would you recommend (active or other type) that would cover hf/vh/uhf? Regards, Kes m0pkz |

A desktop discone would cover most of the frequencies you need but keep your expectations very low especially on hf, you’ll likely get a really high level of noise. The MLA 30+ loops on eBay work a lot better on hf than any discone would and are a pretty thin loop that hides easily. |

I used to use a YouLoop antenna, fairly inexpensive. It’s a passive antenna and has good immunity to localised noise. Worked reasonably well on VHF. When compared with another popular indoor antenna, the MLA-30+, it had better SNR especially on MF and LF. I could easily resolve many NDB’s between 280KHz and 500KHz where as the MLA just produced noise. Now that I’ve got back into transmitting I’ve stuck with a small broadband loop (MFJ-1886TR) for receiving and use a simple non-resonant wire fed with a 9:1 UnUn for transmit. |
