Post TELEPHONE LINE INTERFERENCE???
Hi all
At the moment I have an end fed longwire which is about 1 meter below the telephone cable. I am about to change antennas but no matter where it is located it will always be in the path of the telephone line.

Would it be better to go higher than the telephone line, or should I make it another meter below what it is now? I do have an awful lot of noise on 18mHz and 40m and below which I take for granted would be there anyway. My neighbour has his solar panels about 2 meters from my end fed. So I don't know if my noise originates from him or the telephone line.

Any ideas please.
Many thanks
Tony

You can soon find out if it is the telephone line making the noise, listen to the 50kHz gaurd bands for VDSL at 12MHz and 8.5MHz and see if the noise dips, if it doesn't it's highly likely it's your neighbours solar panels, or maybe the inverters. You might be unlucky and have a combination of the two.

This document gives a good insight to VDSL.

I'd stay below the telephone cable just because you don't want your wire to fall and maybe tangle or damage with it.
I have solar and they don't create interference. I would imagine if they did, it would vary between day and night.

Neighbours on both sides have solar panels, easy to see the interference on an FT8 waterfall, lines every 50cs that change as the sun comes and goes.

Wipes out 14 megs up on SSB
