Post How do you "swear" a CB radio in ?
One of my neighbours has just brought himself a 4 X 4 & it seems a CB. He has also just asked me to "swear" it in...What ever that is.
I asked if it required a Bible & an oath or if it simply meant using normal CB type language but he said no I would need a "swear meter" (what ever that is,) & that his radio was coming with one.
So a few questions....
How do I use a "swear meter"? What kind of language does it measure? & is it any more accurate than a contesters 5 & 9?

If your background is CB then perhaps you would understand.

Some years ago I was approached by someone who said. - "Your into electronics aren't you?"
Er - Yes. I replied.
"Can you sort out me rig and me twig? I've got a problem with the sware" :?

My never having been involved in CB he might as well have been speaking Chinese.

After further conversation I gathered that he had an illegal CB that was not functioning as expected and someone had thought there was an antenna related problem!

Sorry mate my Bird throughline does not come with slugs for 27MHz.

Blank stare. :) No. I don't have the equipment!

Cheers

Tony

why??

just because someone gets a cb are we supposed to band together or try and get him a foundation licence.. :?

who says he wants to do amateur anyway.. some people don't want to do it and are happy on the cb.. to be frank theres just as many amateurs now just as in the dark as this fella with his cb.. dont make amateur out somethinfg special, it isnt nor are the people doing it ..

half the licenced amateurs on here still think its swer and balum and 9 an 5

I did realise what he meant & did organise to visit tomorrow when the radio arrives to check what language his antenna using with my MFJ Swear analyser.
My wife a 2E0 did suggest our 11 year old daughter do it for him, as she holds a foundation licence & is more than capable of sorting it for him, but he looked slightly confused, so we left it at me helping.
As to talking him into taking a foundation course, no I don't think so & as it's a public forum I'll leave it at that.

Locally we had a large influx of CB'ers which meant that instead of being integrated into normal society they just ganged up together on the local repeater & carried on as always.
This resulted in the local club having to change it training slightly to include trainees being told how to conduct themselves, language wise after they had passed, but sadly as many of those on the training group are the problems, nothing has changed.

The CB was not purchased due to his wife winning the argument.

I agree with what he said

As is said on during Priministers question time in the house each day, I refer you to my previous answer.
