Post 2 transceivers and 1 microphone switch diagram wanted.
I have 2 transceivers and i would like to use my headset with both, at the flick of a switch.

So thats microphone, speaker/headphone audio and a foot switch that would need switching.
The microphone/headset is a heil hc4.
I will need the addition of the up and down scan function, but thats fairly easy as i will only want that on
the one transceiver. As the FT650 has a programmable scan. the other radio is a FT1000MP MK V.

I did have a diagram, that i had found on the net, but think it may have been binned. And i cannot find it on
the net either.

I would use a simple multipole switch... housed in either the mic (if there's room) or fit it in a box, maybe with connectors and LEDs depending on how flash you want it ! LOL

Had not thought of using that type of switch, but i suppose its possible to do it all with one.

Its the diagram thats bugging me... how much scrap paper can one scribble on ?
It should not be that difficult to switch out going audio, mic and ptt lines. but i still want to be able to hear the audio from the radio i am
not txing on.

Luckily both radios have PTT sockets on the rears and audio out as well, both mic sockets are 8 pin, but damned well different wiring.
But i need the scan facility on the FT650.

Getting audio to your headset from two radios at once may be a bit of a challenge.... its not as simple as a switch.

By far the easiest solution would be to build an adapter cable to fit one of the rigs... that way you just swap the headset plug between the radios - but it sounds like you are after something more permanent ?

Think i have tracked it down, but some of the links are to pages explaining why they actually do it, and not how.

Its referred to a SO2R, single operator 2 radios. all i need is the digram now.
found 2 diagrams but they are actually mirrors of each other. but not sure they are the only way to do it.

Heres the one http://www.dl1iao.com/tech/so2r_basic.htm
The other is just a mirror image with different symbols on it, found out after i spent an age copying it out to see where it differed.
Apparently its a technique used by contest stations. I spent part of last weekend hunting for info and got to the stage of giving up.

Phil etc, I have been pondering the same. I have two radios fitted with RJ45 8 pin plugs. Searching the www for inspiration I found this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/200675826420? ... 1497.l2649

Sold as a network switch I think / hope it can be used as a basis for a mic / dual radio switch. All I've got to add is speaker / head phone connection / switch.
Cost Ā£2 each, I await the post.

Either it'll work or..... the smokes out .

Looks possible, no use to me as my radios are 8 pin round sockets.

Got plugs, sockets and various switches, need box and i am away, off to maplins on friday then.
Plenty of screened flexible cable so should be ok there as well.

I think its this weekends project, unless 4 & 6 open again.

I have now found a reference to SO3R. single op 3 radios.... Question, do i go for it and include my K2 as well ?

Probably a little more work than you are looking for but a nice solution.

A five way one of them is just what I'm looking for.

I'll have to have words with Gavin. :D

Cheers

@Phil,

How is this project coming on Phil?

I have got a new, unused, metal boxed data switch with two-way multipole switch which could be adapted for your project.

Has 4 x 26 pin 'D' data sockets on the back, but you could fit 8 pin sockets or flying leads for your radios.

Can send pics if you are interested - it's FOC if it's any use to you, just pay postage.....

Have decided for now its 2 radios only, but i think its going to be easier to have 2 foot switches,
as that makes the wiring in the box easier, and i can just drop the ptt cables down the back.
The mic and audio lines just gome out the front under the radios onto the desk to the control box
which can then rest on my keyboard or have feet to suit.

Maplins after work... shopping list for the bits i dont have.
Complicated does not worry me, i was just getting distracted by a bit of Hawkwind, makes a change from Neil Young.

Got the bigest ali box ? possibly not big enough, bought the only 3.5mm stereo jack socket and a selection of switches,
mainly for the scan function on the FT650. And i got the foot switch for the 650.

Partly a success.
I have all my mic plugs and sockets already, thanks to my hoarded components.
