Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
Update. Socket arrived, and fitted. Easy really nothing to it. Everything work as it should phone and internet.
The bad side. 80metres anything over 50watts and the router reboots. 40metres anything over 165watts and the router reboots. 20metres thru to 10metres 200watts all good.
80metres is a noisy band for me, not too concerned. I normally run around 150watts output, don't tend to run the full 200watts.
I can add another FT240-31 on the cable, although it would need stretching to do so, there are clip on ferrites on all the power supply cables, looped thru at least a couple of times where I can.
The router has a cable to the set top box, the Tado smart heating, and an Orbi web extender. I am going to try 40 & 80 metres with all those un-plugged. Just incase one of the cables is picking the RF up.

Phil - G7BZD You have done as much as you can do supply wise, other than my "not recommended" earthing/screening solutions at my end, it is either the router itself, or even one or more of the stuff "plugged into it" now by the looks of things, assuming all your transmissions are clean and suitably filtered of course.

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
At least the eliminates the faceplate, they are pretty good, so it looks like it's down to the router, it will be interesting when you unplug all those other things to see if that makes a difference.
I have network cables going all over the place here, including network switches in the shack here and another one in the living room for the TV and her Sky box and never seem to have a problem.
Anyway, let us know how you get on.

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
Unplugged all the extras, no real difference. 80metres still bombs out. Plugged them back in after tidying the cables up, and ensuring that all have clip on's fitted to them.
It's a result, not too fussed about 80metres, it's bloody noisy here.
I suppose I could change the inverted L, but as it's about all I can get in, it is easier not too.
The earth point at the base of the L is due for an upgrade. I have a nice earth stake to shove in when the weather is warmer, and the radials need replacing. Her nextdoor, down from townie left one coiled up in the middle of our garden, it used to run along the fence line on my side.
It's been fun running up and down 2 sets of stairs today, need to have a rest now.
Any other hint's or tips would be welcome regarding 80/40mtrs.
Thanks

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
Is there someone near you who might be able to lend you a decent router just to try?
The one's that are given to you from the provider are usually pretty rubbish, the cheapest they can find. When I say a decent router they usually cost a few tens of pounds up to hundreds, you don't want to be spending any more money till you are sure it is the router. Something like a TP Link, Billion, even a Linksys is usually better the ISP provided one.

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
I will ask around, have one friend who may have something other than the standard router, but borrowing it may be like cutting an arm off him. He has been shielding for the last 12 months almost.

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
I just has a thought, you haven't got a power supply chucking out a lot of noise? You mentioned that 80M is noisy VDSL can get disrupted by noisy power supplies. If the power supply feeding the router is noisy it might just be on the edge of losing sync and you transmissions are just enough to tip it over the edge, just something else to consider. Have you got a portable receiver that covers Medium wave, you will be able to hear it putting that close to the power supply.

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
Well that's a result, sweeping across MW the 3 PSU's they are relatively quiet.
Unlike 2 I have in the shack. One is my Nikon battery charger, that squeals. The other is a Ravpower 4 way usb charger, really noisy bugger that one. Neither tend to be in use during the day.
I can power the Tado off the back of the Orbi if I remember rightly, although the Orbi could be relocated by the TV, and then feed the Tado and the set top box from that. I may try that, as I can access the Orbi from my phone when out, and the Tado. That way there is just the router on the shelf with its PSU.
Good side had a contact into Greece earlier on 40metres, and nothing stopped working. So that's a big improvement. And the missus is still talking to me. Treated me to a chinese.

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
We done! Sounds to me like you've go three results there Don't be too hasty though, I'm not convinced about the router, I think it still might be susceptible to RF pick up, only time will tell.

Re: RFI causing EE router to drop out.
I tend to agree about the router, time will only tell.
Have to watch what I do, as the missus works from home part of the week, so messing, as she puts it... is not on. But I can move the Orbi and the Tado, as they are separate from the router. It's an improvement anyway, as at least i can use 40metres thru to 10metres. with lower power on 80metres as well. Improving the aerial when the weather warms up may help as well.
Thanks for the assistance.
