I was asked by some one on here if I had built it, I haven't as mine reads the frequency and selects on of four antennas.

This looked interesting, and I have made things he has designed before (My 847 preamp was his design).

Had an hour to spare this morning, so designed the board.

Now to make the board, which won't be for a while.

It is 51mm X 40mm, so quite small

I left out the RF sampler, if I had needed it I would have connected it so that it could be used on both antennas.

I printed it as if you are looking through the board.

So many hours for such a small result ! :)

Another change of plans this morning, so worked out again how to get it from the design package to the CNC programme.
Two of the programmes have been changed since I last used them.

I'm not keen to modify a 7300 to try it, probably do that at Easter.
It works on the bench :)

steve that looks great when my 7300 arrives i maybe tempted to mod mine.

it is brand spanking new though so hope it works..!

i wonder if its possible to mount the board internal and send a bnc pigtail out the back of the radio somewhere..?

it would keep the project all clean and tidy that way

as the 7300 gets older it maybe a good idea to mount a bnc connector on the rear panel mod the antenna socket on the trx to the switched h.f socket

but for the time being a external idea would have to do..!

if you are really careful i suppose you could do the internal parts without to much mess and if there was a issue with radio for warranty it could be undone..

i will have a look when mine arrives in march

I'm sure it could be mounted internally, though it would probably be necessary to design the PCB to use a smaller relay to reduce the height.

It would save the cost of a box (around £10 for a decent die cast box) and all the drilling etc. and the cables on the desk.

Though that might be going back to square one if you wanted to use the same antenna (ie vertical or modified cobweb), as with no menu selection, you would then need to use an external antenna switch to switch the single antenna between inputs.

I've just looked at a 7300, and internal is no go in my mind.
Not impossible, but unwise.

Ok steve probably better to stay with the original design then..
