Anyone used any of this family of portable radios? I'm quite interested in getting one.

I have its big brother, the LD-11.

They work fine, far superior to the youkits HB1b etc.

The only gripes you tend to find around the web are that they do not have auto ATUs built in, and that they require an external power source.

My only gripe is that the microphone supplied has a low output, so even with 90% compression you still have to talk loud when on SSB.

The receiver section works great on all bands, again, far superior to the youkits ones I've owned.

There was a demo video on youtube of an LD-11 where he described the CW mode on the rig as "being like sending through custard". What he meant by that I don't know. The CW keying on my LD-11 is fine, and the inbuilt keyer works great.

Was there anything specific you wanted to know?
