Re: 6M ES, again.
Put a Luso on your birthday list Paul - problem solved I know my Dad's keeps ants for 6 thru 23cm on his tower all the year, but they are not big yagis by any means so although he's in an exposed spot there's no restless nights. I must admit to taking down my top 6m yagi before I came back, after bending a scaffold grade stub mast I didn't want to take any chances even though I'd changed it with a 10mm wall tube. Look forward to working you when you do put the ant back up though, I think it'll be a piece of cake.

Re: 6M ES, again.
A Luso would be nice Kelvin. Tony,if I had the room and another tower I would use one tower for HF and one for VHF and the antennas would stay where they were. At the moment the tower has got a 3ele HF tribander,a 10ele 144mhz yagi and a pair of 20ele 432Mhz yagis on it,apart from anything else its a bit crowded up there even with a long stubmast. I put the other 432Mhz 20ele up yesterday and there is a noticable difference on PI7CIS,it seems to be a lot more consistent now. I keep thinking about moving the tribander to a pole thats attached to the house, its far from ideal but I only really use HF for Islands and DXCC chasing, everytime I move VHF/UHF antennas to the pole I end up disappointed even though the feeder run is quite short. So...around April the 432Mhz antennas will be coming down and the 6M one will be going up.

Re: 6M ES, again.
I do similar: just one mast so Hexbeam on there in winter and 6m yagi on there May-Sept.
If I had 2 masts/towers I probably would leave the 6m one up all the time, but maybe not the big 6 ele LFA: exposed location here and it seems a bit flimsy, even in summer (old version with single mounting Stuaff clamps for the elements, so always going out of alignment in a moderate wind).
Having said that, outside solar max, I can't see much point in having a 6m aerial up in the winter: I don't do the contests and I'm not going to work anything different to what I would work in the summer Es. In the past I had a 6m yagi up all year round for 17 consecutive years and never worked anything more than single hop Es in winter. Suppose it could be useful for inter-G stuff but I'm not really a rag-chewer.

Re: 6M ES, again.
You guessed right Daz Put out a few calls on 098 and 150 = zilch, only 4 local-ish Sunday nets between 130 and 200. Absolutely dread to think what it'll be like this year May - July

The 2M one is rated at 200W, but relistic about 160W. Now this 6M version is rated at 375W output, Im looking at running it at 250W/300W being driven by the IC-7610. I will be happy with that into the Cushcraft Boomer. (Oh, only for SSB use) John.

You need to have plenty in reserve on the PSU, and very thick cables as the pull could be in the region of 50A, on 300W peaks. Plus what the driver takes. If you're going to push 300W I'd keep an eye on the spectrum, as well. Both of mine are run at 100W. Cheers Tony

Re: 6M ES, again.
Nice amp John, just take care on the drive level and it'll run forever and a day Still waiting for you to come up on six Paul, I only had the big wheel up last time you were on. I doubt if anything new's been missed yet, I've just been honing the system and giving it a good shake down using msk while waiting for hell to brake loose

I have a PSU most people call "The Brick" rated at 120A @ 13.8V. Made up a new power cable this afternoon, rated at 170A. See how it goes at 200W to start with, the Cushcraft is in the air! I also have the PW1, but mainly use that amp on HF. But it will put out 400W on 6M all day. John.
