Cheaply made, hard to tune, worst load of rubbish I have ever bought.

A 60W light bulb, even without a ground plane would work better.

I've had one in the garage for years, will use it one day for spare aluminium, I would be too ashamed to sell it to any one as an antenna.

The answer would depend on how small the garden is, what mounting points / trees etc you have, what is on the other side of the house, can you put radials down etc.

You will get probably as many suggestions as people who answer, but they will narrow down as your needs become clearer.

Usually the more effective answers need to be made, and are often not expensive, but all will be compromises.

Some taller verticals can work OK, but not usually better than a longer piece of wire.

Inverted L ? Or you could strap the wire to a fibreglass fishing pole and make a vertical out of it.
