Post Kettering or Northampton Radio Clubs?
I'm moving to Wellingborough in a few weeks from now, and investigating local clubs if commuting allows me to attend one. I see from the RSGB site that there are clubs near Kettering and in Northampton, both a similar distance from where I'll be living. Is anyone on the site familiar with either of these clubs and able to recommend etc?

I'm planning to become more active on vhf/uhf/23cm once the shack is set up, as the location will be pretty open, way better than where I am at present.
Cheers
Lindsay

I'm a member of Northampton Radio Club so I will be quite biased :)
We're a friendly bunch with ages ranging from 10 to 70+, we're all quite active on all bands and digimodes.
Our current meeting place has full station facilities including HF/VHF and UHF.
Training wise, we are constantly running FL, IL and Full training programs with an excellent degree of success.
Once you've settled into your new home, please feel free to get in touch and come and meet us.
This Sunday, June 5th we'll be at Northampton Society of Model Engineers Public Open Day running a special event station if you're in the area.

All I will add is this; When I was looking to join a club and start my training I emailed several clubs in the local area. Two never replied, two replied several weeks later and only one replied the next day giving me all the info I needed.

Hi,
Thanks for that info and input - you can read stuff about a club but info from a member - even if biased! - is valuable. I'm not a particularly "clubby" person but I'd like to go to occasional meetings, an get to know a few local amateurs. I will do exactly as you suggest and get in touch when we have settled into the new house. I obviously don't need exam training, but never having taken the old morse test, I might be interested in some morse training assistance sometime as I know I'm missing out on a lot by not using that mode. My operating has been almost entirely digimodes, ask and jt65 in the last few years, but I want to get into satellites a bit and the UKAC contests on vhf/uhf from the new QTH.

We have two morse instructors who are more than happy to teach people of all levels.
Feel free to get in touch and I'll happily meet up and have a chat over a coffee.
