WARRINGTON AMATEUR RADIO CLUB - RSGB REGION 3 CLUB OF THE YEAR.
With a proud history since 1947 for pioneering all aspects of amateur radio.

The club and its members promote and explore developments within the ‘hobby’ whilst enthusiastically working to inspire youngsters with an interest, training newcomers and enabling them to become licensed radio amateurs.

The club finds time to ‘contest’ sportingly with other clubs and present ‘exhibition’ stands at rallies and shows, special event stations and museums, including the Museum of science & industry in Manchester, the Burtonwood airbase museum.
Notably the club staged a special event station GB2012MV coordinating efforts of two other radio clubs in the North West region for six weeks during the
London Olympic and then the Paralympic games during the summer of 2012.

Offering weekly ‘in house’ talks of a high standard and excellence, club members also visit many other nearby clubs to speak and share their knowledge on modern trends and equipment available.

The club ‘shack’ is a technically well-equipped radio station offering opportunities to experience cutting edge technology combined with a comfortable meeting room that accommodates twice weekly meetings of its members.
The club plays host for meetings of other amateur radio groups such as NARSA (Northern Amateur Radio Societies Association) (http://www.narsa.org.uk) and the North West repeater group. (http://www.ukfmgw.org.uk)
It is a popular venue in the North West region due to its close proximity to the motorway network and the comforts offered at the meetings and afterwards in the nearby bar.

Club members established, installed and continue to maintain GB7WC one of the first digital amateur radio repeaters in Great Britain. There is also a continuous 24/7 APRS (GPS positional) beacon running from the club station.

The Club is an established examination centre and runs training courses at regular intervals throughout the year.

The club was recently presented with the RSGB Regional club of the year award for 2012. (NW).

We are based in Grappenhall at the Grappenhall Community Centre,
Bellhouse Lane, Grappenhall, Warrington, WA4 2SG.

The club meets Tuesday evenings from 8pm – 9.30pm.
Thursday mornings 9.30am – 12.30am.
