Post Dudley and District Amateur Radio Society
About the club

The club has a membership which covers a wide range of radio activities. From contest work to morse the club will try and cover it all. Membership is open to all from swl to rare DX. It is also open to non licensed!

Growing in size the club has a regular core of members and the weekly meetings are growing week on week.

The club is also open to younger members and several youngsters are regulars at the society. We would ask that parents/gaurdians accompany all youngsters who come to the club for their own safety. For more information on this contact Drew

Following the 2012 AGM, which was lively and well atended, the committee structure is thus:

Committee members, Dave, G0IBD. Kevin, 2E0COJ, Miles, G4GSB

Please contact Drew for further details and also for the breakdown of pricing should you wish to join part of the way in to the year.
A brief history

Dudley and District Amateur Radio Society (DADARS) is the latest incarnation of a radio club which has a varied and colourful background.

Some time ago Dudley Amateur Radio Club (DARC) was formed and at its height a splinter group was formed which became Hillcrest Amateur Radio Society (HARS), which was based at Hillcrest Community School in Netherton. Following a forced eviction the club found itself at Summerhill School in Kingswinford. Once here the club changed its name to reflect the move and became Kingswinford and District Amateur Radio Society (KADARS).

After some time at Summerhill the club once again moved to its present home at "The Windmill". To reflect its move to what was a former DARC QTH and also due the to geographical location the present name was adopted, Dudley and District Amateur Radio Society.

Please note that DADARS is not connected with Dudley Amateur Radio Club (1961).

Informative!

So has the DARC gone completely then?

Its a shame if it has. I was a member back in the eighties and it was really good fun. Ahhhhh 2m Horizontal from Sedgley Beacon ("do you know, the next highest ground is the Urals...?")
